We started back in 1991 tagging and watching the patterns of all the Sharks that we were able to tag ranging from Great whites all the way down to the harmless Nurse Sharks and everything in between.
Ironbound, one of the dozens of sharks tracked by the non-profit research organization OCEARCH, registered a ping on April 28 off the coast of New Jersey. Measuring 12 feet 4 inches and weighing about 998 pounds. The process of tagging is we try and stick a tracer as close to the dorsal fin as possible, then come back later and catch the shark and check it over while it's out of the water. The shark does not get harmed and we download the gps tracker and replace it. See where the shark has all been in a certain amount of time.
